This is the classic route into the Annapurna Sanctuary, and it is the trek we recommend to anyone walking in Nepal for the first time. You climb through rhododendron forest to Poon Hill for sunrise over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South, then follow the Modi Khola gorge up into the amphitheatre of peaks at Annapurna Base Camp, 4,130 metres.
It is a teahouse trek. You sleep in lodges, not tents, and you walk five to seven hours a day. No previous high-altitude experience is needed, but you should be comfortable on your feet for a week and able to manage stone staircases, of which there are many.
Our price covers your guide, your permits, your accommodation and all three meals a day on trek. Domestic flights are not included and are quoted separately.

Why choose the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the classic Himalayan walk for people who want to stand among 7,000 and 8,000 metre peaks without the extreme altitude of Everest. Base Camp sits at 4,130 m inside a ring of mountains that includes Annapurna I and the fishtail summit of Machhapuchhre, and fit walkers with no climbing experience can reach it.
The route also packs a lot of variety into eleven days: terraced Gurung villages, rhododendron and bamboo forest, hot springs at Jhinu Danda and the sunrise view from Poon Hill over Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna range.
Who the Annapurna Base Camp Trek suits
It suits regular hikers who are happy walking five to seven hours a day on stone steps, with plenty of up and down. You sleep in simple teahouses and eat dal bhat, momos and noodle soups along the way. Children from about ten and active travellers in their sixties do this trek every season at a steady pace.
Best time for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek
October and November give the clearest mountain views and the most stable weather. March to May is the second season, with the rhododendron forests in flower. The monsoon, June to September, brings rain, leeches and cloud, and December to February is cold, with snow possible above Deurali.
Good to know: your guide, trekking permits and teahouse stays are arranged before you arrive, and the drive between Kathmandu and Pokhara is in your own car with the same driver.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek 11 Days: frequently asked questions
Echte Fragen, die unsere Reisenden vor der Buchung stellen, beantwortet von der Familie, die diese Strecken fährt.
Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.
On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.
The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.
Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.
No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.
Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.
Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.
It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.
For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
