The Golden Triangle is the standard first trip to India for good reason, but seven days lets you add Ranthambore without cutting anything short. The park sits between Agra and Jaipur, so it costs you very little driving to include it.
Ranthambore is genuinely one of the better places in India to see a wild tiger. Nothing is guaranteed — anyone who guarantees you a tiger is lying — but the reserve has a healthy population and open terrain, and two safaris across two mornings gives you a fair chance.
We drive the whole route. Park safaris are booked separately in government jeeps and canters; we will explain how and when to book, because they sell out.
Si vous hésitez entre plusieurs itinéraires, tous nos voyages en Inde sont présentés sur la page circuits en Inde, et le fonctionnement de nos tarifs voiture avec chauffeur est expliqué sur voiture privée avec chauffeur en Inde.

Length: 7 days by private car, with the same English-speaking driver throughout.
Price: the Golden Triangle with Ranthambore tour starts from $623 for the whole car, not per person.

Flexible: every day of the Golden Triangle with Ranthambore itinerary can be changed, shortened or extended.
The Golden Triangle with Ranthambore in seven days
This is the quicker version of our tiger safari route. In seven days, the Golden Triangle with Ranthambore covers Old and New Delhi, Humayun's Tomb and the sunset from Mehtab Bagh, the Taj Mahal at sunrise, two safaris in Ranthambore and Amber Fort and the City Palace in Jaipur, before the drive back to Delhi.
Ranthambore lies between Agra and Jaipur, so the detour is short. Agra to Ranthambore is about five to six hours, and Ranthambore to Jaipur about three and a half.
Who the Golden Triangle with Ranthambore suits
It suits travellers who want the classic monuments and a real chance of seeing a wild tiger, but only have a week. If you can add a day, our 8-day Golden Triangle with Ranthambore tiger safari gives you a third safari and a slower pace.
Safari basics
Safaris run in the morning and afternoon, in open six-seat gypsies or twenty-seat canters. Seats are booked through the official Rajasthan Forest Department system with passport details, so we book them as soon as you confirm. Nobody can promise a tiger, but Ranthambore is one of the best parks in India for sightings.
Best time to travel
October to March is the most comfortable time, with cold mornings in the open jeep. March to June is hot but good for sightings near water. The main park zones close for the monsoon from about July to the end of September.

JOUR01Jour 1
Arrive in Delhi · Old Delhi by rickshaw
Your driver meets you at the airport arrivals hall holding a sign with your name, helps with the bags and takes you to your hotel. There is nothing to organise on day one: rest, or if you land before about 2 p.m., spend the afternoon in Old Delhi.
Arrival: Indira Gandhi International Airport to central Delhi takes 45–75 minutes depending on traffic. Your driver tracks your flight, so a late landing is not a problem.
Afternoon (optional): Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque (1656). Climb the southern minaret for a view over Old Delhi. Then a cycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk's spice, silver and wedding-card lanes, ending at Khari Baoli, Asia's largest spice market.
Tickets: Jama Masjid entry is free; a camera fee of about ₹300 applies and the minaret has a small separate ticket. Rickshaw about ₹500–700 for an hour. The mosque closes to visitors during prayer times.
Eat: Parathas in Paranthe Wali Gali, or kebabs and mutton korma at Karim's beside Jama Masjid (since 1913).
Tip: Cover shoulders and knees for the mosque; robes are lent at the gate. Keep your phone in a front pocket in the crowded lanes.
Nuit : Delhi
JOUR02Jour 2

Eat: Lunch at a highway dhaba or in Delhi before leaving. In Agra, try Mughlai food: dal makhani, mutton korma and the local sweet petha.

Golden Triangle with Ranthambore: frequently asked questions
Les vraies questions que nos voyageurs posent avant de réserver, avec les réponses de la famille qui conduit sur ces routes.
No, and be sceptical of anyone who says otherwise. Ranthambore has one of the better sighting rates in India and two or three safaris gives you a decent chance, but it is a wild animal in a large park. You will certainly see deer, crocodiles, and a great many birds.
No. Safaris are booked through the forest department in their own vehicles, and the price depends on zone, vehicle type and whether you are Indian or foreign. Roughly 2,500 to 4,000 rupees per person per safari. We will tell you exactly how to book and when.
As early as you can — ninety days ahead is when bookings open and the best zones go quickly, especially October to March. This is the one part of the trip we genuinely urge you not to leave until you arrive.
The core zones close from 1 July to 30 September for the monsoon. Some buffer zones stay open. If your dates fall in that window we will suggest a different route rather than sell you a closed park.
No. Safaris are in forest department vehicles with their own drivers and naturalists — private cars are not allowed inside the park. Our driver takes you to the gate and is there when you come out.
You can do the Golden Triangle in five, but adding Ranthambore properly needs seven. With five you would get one safari and a lot of driving. We would rather tell you that now than have you disappointed.
Hotels, meals, monument entrance fees, park safaris and guides. The price covers the vehicle, driver, fuel, all tolls and state taxes, parking and permits.
