That is long enough for the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur plus one more region, such as Rajasthan, Varanasi or the Himalayan foothills, without rushing. A short tailor-made India tour of 4 to 7 days works well for the Golden Triangle alone, and three weeks lets you continue overland into Nepal.
We price the car and driver for the whole trip, not per person, so a couple or a family of three pays the same. As a guide, a 4-day Golden Triangle starts at $356 and a 6-day Rajasthan route at $534. Hotels are your choice: we book them at cost if you want, or you book your own. Your quote lists every day and every inclusion, so there is nothing to add later.
October to March is the main season, with dry, warm days on the plains. December and January mornings can be foggy around Delhi and Agra. April to June is hot on the plains but a good time for Shimla, Manali and the hills, and the monsoon months turn Rajasthan green and quiet. A group tour runs a fixed route on fixed dates with strangers, and its price depends on filling the coach. A tailor-made trip is built only for your party — your dates, your interests, your pace — and you travel privately throughout.
It depends far more on hotel standard and party size than on the route. Because pricing is per person by vehicle tier, two people travelling together always pay more each than a family of five on the same itinerary. Ask and we will quote your exact party rather than a headline figure.
The Golden Triangle works well in about a week. Combining India and Nepal properly wants two to three. Under five days we would rather tell you to focus on one city than sell you a week of driving.
October to March for northern India; October to November and March to May for trekking in Nepal. Monsoon is cheaper, greener and far quieter, but unreliable for mountain views. Our travellers' information page goes into this properly.
Yes — it is one of the things we are known for. It can be done by air between Delhi and Kathmandu, or overland. Tell us early, because the two countries have different visa arrangements and the border crossing changes the plan.
For October to March, three to six months gives you the best hotels. Shorter notice is usually still possible — we have put good trips together in a fortnight — but the choice of rooms narrows.
