On our road tours the price covers your private vehicle and driver for the whole route, fuel, tolls, road taxes, permits and the driver’s own food and lodging. Hotels, your meals, park entry fees, guides and domestic flights are not included — we will arrange any of them at cost if you would rather not deal with it.
On our treks it works differently. The price includes teahouse accommodation, all meals while trekking, your licensed guide, porter support and the permits, because a trek without those is not a product anyone can use. Domestic flights and city hotels are quoted separately so you can see the real cost.
Before your Nepal tour, check the entry rules: most nationalities get a visa on arrival or apply online through Nepal’s Department of Immigration, and the Nepal Tourism Board publishes festival dates and trekking rules.
Nepal is small on the map but slow on the road, so the secret of a good Nepal tour is fewer places and more time in each. These are the questions we answer most often.
October and November are the best months for a Nepal tour, with clear mountain views after the monsoon. March to May is the second season, warmer and hazier, with rhododendrons in flower. December to February is cold in the hills but bright, and a pleasant time for Kathmandu and Chitwan. The monsoon, June to September, brings landslides on mountain roads, although Upper Mustang lies in a rain shadow and stays fairly dry.
Distances look short, but mountain highways are narrow and busy. Kathmandu to Pokhara is about 200 km and usually takes six to eight hours; Pokhara to Chitwan about five. Our drivers know where the roadworks are this season and plan around them, and they do not drive mountain roads after dark.
Prices are for the whole vehicle, not per person. A 9-day Nepal wildlife tour starts at $801, a 10-day luxury Nepal tour at $890 and a 12-day Nepal cultural tour at $1,068. The price covers the vehicle, your driver, fuel, tolls and the driver’s room. Hotels, entry tickets, jungle activities in Chitwan and your meals are separate, and we book hotels at cost if you want us to.

Most nationalities get a visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport or the land borders. Trekking areas need their own permits, and Upper Mustang needs a restricted-area permit costing 500 US dollars per person for ten days, with a minimum of two travellers and a licensed guide. We arrange all of those.
October and November for the clearest mountain views, then March to May. The monsoon runs June to September and hides the Himalaya — except in Upper Mustang, which sits in the rain shadow and stays dry.
Six to seven hours by road through river gorges, or about 25 minutes by air. The drive is genuinely scenic, so we usually suggest driving one way and flying the other.
