Your own car, your own driver, for every kilometre. No coach, no group of strangers, no fixed departure date. Varanasi, on the Ganges, is the spiritual heart of India and the starting point for the Buddhist sites of Sarnath, Bodh Gaya and Kushinagar, and for the road into Nepal. Our Varanasi tours use the same private car and driver model, with a local guide in the old city lanes.
We are direct about this because most operators are not.
Included: your private vehicle for the whole route, your driver, fuel, tolls, interstate taxes, parking, place permits, and the driver’s own food and accommodation. Nothing on that list is charged again later.
Not included: hotels, your meals, monument entrance fees, guides, visas and flights. That is deliberate. We do not take a commission on a hotel room, which means we have no reason to push you towards one. You book the hotels you actually want, at your own budget.
If you would rather not deal with any of it, we will arrange hotels, city guides, monument tickets and domestic flights at cost. Just ask.

Most people who write to us have a rough idea of what they want to see but no sense of how the pieces fit together. These are the questions we answer most often when planning an India tour by road, with honest answers from 30 years of driving these routes.
For a first India tour, two weeks is the sweet spot. It gives you the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur at a relaxed pace plus one more region, usually Rajasthan or Varanasi. With less time, keep it simple:
October to March is the best season for an India tour of the plains and Rajasthan: warm, dry days and cool nights. December and January bring fog in the early mornings across Delhi, Agra and the Ganges plain, so we plan later starts on those days. April to June is very hot on the plains, often above 40 °C, but it is a good time for the Himalayan north around Shimla and Manali. The monsoon, July to September, turns Rajasthan green and quiet, with fewer visitors and lower hotel prices.
Our prices are for the whole car, not per person, so two or three travellers sharing a sedan pay the same. A same-day Taj Mahal trip from Delhi starts at $113, a 4-day Golden Triangle tour at $356, and a 6-day Rajasthan tour at $534. The price covers the car, the English-speaking driver, fuel, tolls, parking, state taxes and the driver’s own room. Hotels, monument tickets, guides and your meals are separate, and we never add commission to hotels we book for you.

We match the car to the group rather than charging everyone the same. A sedan for one or two people, an SUV for a family, a tempo traveller for six to eight, a mini bus for a larger group. The price you see on each tour is per person at that vehicle size, so a couple never pays for a bus.

We provide the driver. Self-drive is not something we offer, and on Indian roads it is not something we would recommend to a first-time visitor.
Yes. Our drivers speak working English and know the routes. They are drivers rather than licensed guides — if you want a guide inside a monument, we can book one for you at cost.
We quote per person, based on the vehicle your group needs. Two people share a sedan, a family takes an SUV, and the per-person price falls as the group grows.
No, and that is on purpose. We would rather you chose your own hotels at your own standard than pay our markup on a room we picked. We will book them for you at cost if you prefer.
Two to three months for October to March, which is the busy season in northern India. Shorter notice is usually fine outside that.
