This is the full loop. Twelve days is what Rajasthan actually takes if you want the desert cities as well as the famous ones, and you want to arrive somewhere before dark most days.
The route runs Delhi to Jaipur, north-west to Bikaner and its camel country, deep west to Jaisalmer and the Thar, back to Jodhpur, south through Ranakpur to Udaipur, then home via Pushkar. Every leg is one we drive regularly and we know where the road is good and where it is not.
It is a driving tour. Hotels are yours to choose — in Rajasthan that decision genuinely changes the trip, because some of the heritage properties are the best part of the day.

DAY01Day 1
Delhi to Jaipur
Five hours on the highway. Afternoon free in the Pink City; Nahargarh Fort for sunset if you are up for it.
DAY02Day 2
Jaipur — Amber Fort and the City Palace
Amber early, then City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal from the street. Bazaars in the late afternoon.
DAY03Day 3
Jaipur to Bikaner
About six hours north-west. The country opens up and thins out. Arrive late afternoon.
DAY04Day 4
Bikaner — Junagarh Fort and Deshnok
Junagarh Fort, which was never conquered and is unusually well preserved inside. Then the camel breeding farm, and if you want it, the Karni Mata temple at Deshnok — the rat temple, which is not for everyone and we will say so plainly.
DAY05Day 5
Bikaner to Jaisalmer
Around five and a half hours across increasingly empty country. Arrive with the fort catching the last light.
DAY06Day 6
Jaisalmer — fort and havelis
The living fort in the morning, then Patwon ki Haveli and the merchant houses. Gadisar Lake in the evening.
DAY07Day 7
Jaisalmer — Kuldhara and the Sam dunes
Bada Bagh and the abandoned village at Kuldhara in the morning, then out to the Sam dunes for the afternoon and sunset.
DAY08Day 8
Jaisalmer to Jodhpur
Five and a half hours back east. Afternoon at Jaswant Thada and the clock tower market.
DAY09Day 9
Jodhpur — Mehrangarh
A full morning at Mehrangarh, then down into the blue lanes and the Toorji stepwell.
DAY10Day 10
Jodhpur to Ranakpur to Udaipur
Five hours with Ranakpur in the middle, timed for after midday when the temple opens to visitors.
DAY11Day 11
Udaipur — City Palace and Lake Pichola
City Palace museum, Jagdish Temple, Bagore ki Haveli, and the lake in the late afternoon. The Monsoon Palace above town for the view west.
DAY12Day 12
Udaipur to Pushkar to Delhi
A long final leg. We break it at Pushkar for the lake and the Brahma temple, then continue to Delhi. If you would rather fly out of Udaipur, we will end the tour there instead.

Rajasthan is bigger than England. Jaipur to Jaisalmer is around eleven hours of driving. Twelve days is what it takes to see six cities without spending every second day entirely in the car — it is the length we most often recommend.
Yes. Drop Bikaner and Jaisalmer and it becomes our eight-day Jaipur–Jodhpur–Udaipur route. Drop Udaipur and it becomes a desert-focused nine days. Tell us which cities matter most and we will re-cut it.
No. Our price covers the vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls, state taxes, parking and permits. Hotels, meals, entrance fees and guides are yours. We do not take commission on hotels, which is why we do not bundle them.
Budget roughly 90 to 120 US dollars per person over twelve days for the forts, palaces and museums, plus whatever you spend on the desert camp and camel ride if you do them.
No. The same vehicle and the same driver stay with you for all twelve days. That continuity is the whole point of hiring a car rather than joining a group.
That is our cost, never yours. Drivers have their own arrangements at every stop on this route and their meals and accommodation are already in the price you are quoted.
Junagarh Fort is genuinely one of the best-preserved in Rajasthan and Bikaner sees a fraction of Jaipur's crowds. It also breaks the long haul to Jaisalmer sensibly. If you are short on time it is the first city we would cut, but we would cut it reluctantly.
November to February for the best weather; the desert nights are genuinely cold, so bring a jacket. October and March are warm but comfortable. We do not recommend May and June for this route.
