The Golden Triangle is the standard first trip to India for good reason, but seven days lets you add Ranthambore without cutting anything short. The park sits between Agra and Jaipur, so it costs you very little driving to include it.
Ranthambore is genuinely one of the better places in India to see a wild tiger. Nothing is guaranteed — anyone who guarantees you a tiger is lying — but the reserve has a healthy population and open terrain, and two safaris across two mornings gives you a fair chance.
We drive the whole route. Park safaris are booked separately in government jeeps and canters; we will explain how and when to book, because they sell out.
If you are weighing up routes, every India journey we run is listed on the India tours page, and the way our car-and-driver pricing works is explained on private car and driver in India.
Trip highlights
The Taj Mahal at sunrise on your own schedule, not a bus timetable
Two safari slots at Ranthambore, in a park with real tigers rather than a promise of them
Amber Fort and the Jaipur bazaars
Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned Mughal capital, on the Agra to Ranthambore leg
Day-by-day itinerary
DAY01Day 1
Arrive Delhi
We meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. If you land early, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar make an easy first afternoon.
DAY02Day 2
Delhi sightseeing
Old Delhi — Jama Masjid, the lanes of Chandni Chowk, Red Fort from outside or in — then New Delhi: India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Humayun's Tomb.
DAY03Day 3
Delhi to Agra
Three and a half hours on the expressway. Taj Mahal in the afternoon light, or we go at sunrise the next morning instead — your choice, and we will tell you the trade-off honestly.
DAY04Day 4
Agra to Ranthambore
Taj Mahal at sunrise if you did not go yesterday, then Agra Fort. Fatehpur Sikri on the road out. About six hours in total to Sawai Madhopur, arriving in the evening.
DAY05Day 5
Ranthambore — morning and afternoon safari
Two safari slots, roughly 6.30 am and 2.30 pm. Different zones give different odds and different scenery. Between them, the afternoon is yours.
DAY06Day 6
Ranthambore to Jaipur
One more morning safari if you want it, then about four hours to Jaipur. Afternoon in the old city or at Nahargarh for sunset.
DAY07Day 7
Jaipur and departure
Amber Fort early, then the City Palace and Jantar Mantar. We drive you to Jaipur airport, or on to Delhi if you are flying from there — that is a five-hour leg, so tell us your flight time.

I travelled twice with Go India Nepal. In 2019 for 4 weeks with Babu, together with my 2 adult daughters, and in 2025 2 weeks with Suraj, together with my wife. Both trips were perfect !! Both are safe drivers, speak excellent English, and very respectful to their guests. Highly recommended.

Just finished our fantastic tour around Rajasthan and Agra with Babu. Our 17 day journey was the first time we travelled with a driver since we have been travelling to quite some places just by ourselves over the last years but thought this modality was the right option in chaotic India. This journey was a great success in many ways;…

Real questions our travellers ask before they book, answered by the family who drives these routes.','goindianepal'); ?>
No, and be sceptical of anyone who says otherwise. Ranthambore has one of the better sighting rates in India and two or three safaris gives you a decent chance, but it is a wild animal in a large park. You will certainly see deer, crocodiles, and a great many birds.
No. Safaris are booked through the forest department in their own vehicles, and the price depends on zone, vehicle type and whether you are Indian or foreign. Roughly 2,500 to 4,000 rupees per person per safari. We will tell you exactly how to book and when.
As early as you can — ninety days ahead is when bookings open and the best zones go quickly, especially October to March. This is the one part of the trip we genuinely urge you not to leave until you arrive.
The core zones close from 1 July to 30 September for the monsoon. Some buffer zones stay open. If your dates fall in that window we will suggest a different route rather than sell you a closed park.
No. Safaris are in forest department vehicles with their own drivers and naturalists — private cars are not allowed inside the park. Our driver takes you to the gate and is there when you come out.
You can do the Golden Triangle in five, but adding Ranthambore properly needs seven. With five you would get one safari and a lot of driving. We would rather tell you that now than have you disappointed.
Hotels, meals, monument entrance fees, park safaris and guides. The price covers the vehicle, driver, fuel, all tolls and state taxes, parking and permits.
