Tour overview

Rajasthan's three best-known cities are each worth two days, and they sit four to six hours apart on good highway. Eight days is the honest minimum to see all three without the trip turning into a series of long drives punctuated by hotel check-ins.

Jaipur gives you Amber Fort and the bazaars. Jodhpur gives you Mehrangarh, which many travellers end up calling the finest fort in India, standing over a genuinely blue old city. Udaipur gives you the lakes, the City Palace and a slower pace to finish on.

We drive the whole route. You book your own hotels, which in these three cities range from three hundred rupees to genuinely spectacular converted palaces — that choice should be yours, not ours.

More Rajasthan routes, from a short first trip to the full desert circuit, are on our Rajasthan tours page. If you would rather build your own route, every journey we run is on the India tours page.

Trip highlights

Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, rising straight out of the rock above the blue city
Amber Fort at opening, before the tour buses arrive
Udaipur's City Palace and the lakes at sunset
Ranakpur's Jain temple, on the road between Jodhpur and Udaipur — 1,444 carved marble pillars, no two alike

Day-by-day itinerary

DAY01Day 1

Delhi to Jaipur

Depart Delhi after breakfast, roughly five hours on the highway. Afternoon free. Nahargarh Fort at sunset if you have the energy.

DAY02Day 2

Jaipur — Amber Fort and the old city

Amber Fort early, then the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and the view of Hawa Mahal from the street. Late afternoon in the Johari and Bapu bazaars.

DAY03Day 3

Jaipur to Pushkar to Jodhpur

A long but rewarding day. Two hours to Pushkar for the lake and the Brahma temple, then about four hours on to Jodhpur, arriving in the evening.

DAY04Day 4

Jodhpur — Mehrangarh and the blue city

Mehrangarh Fort takes a good half day and the audio guide is worth taking. Then Jaswant Thada, and the stepwell at Toorji ka Jhalra in the old city below.

DAY05Day 5

Jodhpur to Ranakpur to Udaipur

About five hours with the Ranakpur Jain temple as the stop in the middle. The temple closes to non-worshippers in the morning, so we time the drive to arrive after midday.

DAY06Day 6

Udaipur — City Palace and the lakes

The City Palace museum in the morning, Jagdish Temple and the old lanes, then the Bagore ki Haveli, and Lake Pichola in the late afternoon light.

DAY07Day 7

Udaipur — a slower day

Saheliyon ki Bari, the Monsoon Palace above the city for the view west, or simply a day off the road. If you want the crafts villages of Shilpgram or a drive out to Kumbhalgarh Fort, we will take you.

DAY08Day 8

Udaipur to Delhi or onward

A full day's drive back to Delhi, or we drop you at Udaipur airport for a short flight. Many travellers fly from here — tell us and we will plan the last day around your flight time.

I travelled twice with Go India Nepal. In 2019 for 4 weeks with Babu, together with my 2 adult daughters, and in 2025 2 weeks with Suraj, together with my wife. Both trips were perfect !! Both are safe drivers, speak excellent English, and very respectful to their guests. Highly recommended.

Just finished our fantastic tour around Rajasthan and Agra with Babu. Our 17 day journey was the first time we travelled with a driver since we have been travelling to quite some places just by ourselves over the last years but thought this modality was the right option in chaotic India. This journey was a great success in many ways;…

Frequently asked questions

Real questions our travellers ask before they book, answered by the family who drives these routes.','goindianepal'); ?>

You can, and plenty of operators sell it that way, but you would spend most of two of those days in the car. Jodhpur to Udaipur alone is five hours. Eight days gives each city a full day on the ground.

No. We are a driving company — our income is the vehicle and the driver, not commission on rooms. You book what suits your budget. We will happily book on your behalf at the same price we are quoted, with nothing added.

It is on the direct road between Jodhpur and Udaipur and adds about ninety minutes. The carving inside is the reason people remember it. If temples are not your interest, we will drive straight through and get you to Udaipur earlier.

Yes, but honestly it needs two more days. Jodhpur to Jaisalmer is around five and a half hours each way. If the desert matters to you, look at our twelve-day Rajasthan circuit instead of squeezing it into eight.

A sedan for one to three travellers, an SUV for four or five, a tempo traveller for larger groups. All air-conditioned. The vehicle is yours alone for the whole route — we never combine parties.

Roughly 60 to 80 US dollars per person across the eight days for the major forts, palaces and museums. Paid at each gate, not included in our price.

October is one of the better months — the monsoon is finished and it has cooled off. November through February is the peak for good reason. We drive the route year-round, but April to June is genuinely hot.
